Cape Otway Group Accommodation at Bimbi Park

Cape Otway Group Accommodation at Bimbi Park: Family and group accommodation in the magnificent Otway Ranges.
Bimbi Park is located near Cape Otway in an area
of magnificent forests, spectacular coastline, beaches and secluded
bays. It is sheltered among tall manna gums far away from the wearing
noise of towns and traffic and close to all of the major tourist
attractions of the Otways and also en route to the famous Shipwreck
Coast and its many attractions including the 12 Apostles. In the
local Aboriginal language, 'bimbi' means 'a place of many birds' and
the park's bushland is alive with bird song. You'll hear Kookaburras,
Rosellas, Magpies, Blue Wrens, Robins and the carolling Shrike-Thrush.
And of an evening there's more than a good chance that you'll hear our
local koalas after they wake from their day's napping. Do you know what
a koala sounds like? |

Camp fires are permitted at Bimbi Park. However, during
the summer months fires cannot be lit on total fire ban days. Bimbi Park
supplies portable fire places and there is a modern amenities block with
laundry facilities. Essential groceries, drinks and ice-creams are available
from the kiosk. A safe playground for juniors and an adventure playground
for older children is also provided. Short walks and car trips take you
to beaches and rock headlands where the great Southern Ocean roars onto
the shore or to small safe sandy bays and beaches where children can swim
and play. There are lots of longer walks in the magnificent forests of
the Otway National Park. You can fish from the rocks and beaches, go scuba
diving or visit historic Cape Otway Lighthouse built in 1848 to guide
seafarers through the hazardous waters of Bass Strait. While the climate
of Cape Otway is temperate and pleasant through most of the year, its
beautiful and dramatic coast has a formidable reputation. Fifty vessels
have sunk on this stretch of coastline with the Schomberg, Loch Ard, Eric
the Red and the Falls of Halladale being the better known of them. |
