Beech Forest has some of the most picturesque scenery in the whole of the Otways. And unlike many other areas it still has a good share of working dairy and potato farms. Consequently, the pastures here are almost always green and the views sensational. If you're after a taste of real country life, then this is the place! Hyde Park Cottage is close to all of the major tourist attractions in the Otway Ranges and also en route to the famous Shipwreck Coast and its many attractions including the 12 Apostles.

Derryl & Jean Towers have lived on this farm in Beech Forest all their life. Derryl's parents settled in Beech Forest shortly after their marriage in 1923 and this cottage was actually brought from Turton's Pass ( now a lovely stretch of road through some magnificent rainforest just minutes away by car ) on the back of a bullock dray. It was a small 2 bedroomed cottage used by the timber cutters of the day. A few rooms have since been added on but it still retains the charm of a dwelling from yesteryear. Hyde Park Cottage can sleep up to 9 people and is perfect for families or couples who are seeking to experience rural living on a working dairy farm.

If you're staying at Hyde Park Cottage why not drop in to the Otway Studio Art Gallery: Fantastic slumped glass creations by the renowned artist Dominic O'Leary who lives locally at Beech Forest. Also, just up the road near the Otway Fly is Otway NouriShed - great coffee, local produce, arts & crafts & historical museum.

Hyde Park Cottage is very close to the Otway Fly. You need to allow yourself at least 1 hour to fully appreciate what the walk has to offer. And just down the road a few minutes is the newly completed Triplet Falls walk (below) which takes about 45 minutes. A world class venue.
