Otway Ranges. The park is at the entrance of the Carlisle State Park
and only some 30 kms to the famous Melba Gully State Park which is referred
to as "the jewel of the Otways". Rivers in close proximity
to the park offer good fishing; Gellibrand River is renowned as the
"Home of the Blackfish". The Great Ocean Road is a mere 40
minute drive away and we are only 15 minutes away from the Otway Fly
tree top walk. Close to most of the major tourist
attractions in the Otway Ranges and also en route to the famous
Shipwreck
Coast and its many attractions including the 12 Apostles. The park
is situated on 7.5 acres of grassed and treed land in the middle of
the township of Gellibrand River. The town was established in the 1880's
as a timber and quarrying area and was a major railway head on the Colac-Beech
Forest line. Apart from the caravan park, the town boasts an historic
pub as well as general store, which is directly opposite the park. The
park caters primarily for tourists with comfortable and modern facilities
for caravaners and campers alike. For those who value ultimate comfort,
the park has six fully self-contained cabins of various sizes. |
