The Otways
Forrest – the northern gateway to the Great Otway National Park is home to about 200 fulltime residents but throughout the year the population fluctuates depending on the number of tourists and bike enthusiasts enjoying the magnificent bike trails in the area. This small, delightful, country town was originally established due to the logging industry which in the early days thrived because of the abundance of massive hardwood trees – an industry which has now been replaced with tourism. Tourism is thriving in Forrest not only because it is such a scenic town but because there are so many things to do. As a result Forrest accommodation is on the increase.
